More about Shalinn
This is a picture of me in Maine on vacation in Acadia National Park with the wind in my hair.
Outside of my work-life, I enjoy traveling with my partner, hanging out with our cat, Yadi, and playing music. I’m a singer/songwriter and have played the piano most of my life. I’m a proud Kansas State University graduate and cheer on my Cats along with the St. Louis Cardinals. I like real, authentic conversations and cooking/baking.
I went into college with an undeclared major. I was a nerd that loved school but had a lot of ideas about what I could do professionally. I never considered Speech-Language Pathology, but it came up as a possibility when I took a career/interest inventory at K-State. I liked that it combined science with English and I hoped it would allow me to incorporate my love of the creative/performing arts.
I moved to Kansas City and worked in a couple of local public school districts before getting married and moving to Bangkok, Thailand for a couple of years. Living abroad was a wonderful and challenging experience, and I learned a lot from attempting to learn Thai and seeing the world from another point of view. Upon my return, I’ve worked in private clinics locally with pediatric, adolescent, and some adult clients for more than a decade. I’m heading into a new chapter with Communicating You and am excited to meet you!
